This week the children had a great time on our Bike Day! They were bubbling with excitement as they donned their helmets and safety vests and we set off to Theresienwiese to unlock their bikes and scooters. We split into groups and took turns on the various obstacle courses printed on the southern end of the “meadow”. It was wonderful to observe the children carefully navigating each course, while also having fun and interacting with each other. After the structures courses, the children has opportunity for free play with our traffic signs and enjoyed playing as a group. It was interesting to see which children ran “red lights”, evaded the “police” and were very unhappy about the 500€ “fines” other children demanded they pay. 😉 But it was all fine once we remembered that this is all imaginative play and they can pay with imaginary money! As the morning progressed, some children enjoyed picking wildflowers while others continued to race around the Theresienwiese. It was a great morning filled with fun, entertainment and social play and we celebrated with an icy-pole after lunch.

At the forest this week, the children explored different physical movements at Bavaria park. They crawled, hopped, ran and jumped back and forth across the grass and then enjoyed their free play in the forest, collecting slugs and snails that had come out in the rain.

In Vorschule, the children started a new project of investigating countries' flags as we explore the topic of the football at the moment. The children recreated the German flag, followed by other countries relevant to the children in the group. We have also been watching short videos on the football that have sparked lots of conversation with the children on the topic.
