This week the Preschool children started their self-resilience course. Perhaps parents have noticed that the children are more vocal on their boundaries and how they want to be engaging with each other and speaking up for themselves? The course will continue next week as the teacher supports the children to find their voice, to respect themselves and others and to consider how they connect and engaging in groups and individually. While the preschool children learnt these topics, the other children took a trip to Olympia park where they viewed the Olympic swimming pools and discussed sporting activities.
On Tuesday we had Forest Day with Sandra. We met in a big park where the children had a fascinating time finding slugs and snails amongst the undergrowth. Due to the recent (and persistent) rain, these mollusks were out in force. The children had a great time practicing their counting, making distinctions between the different varieties, making comparisons of size and shape, observing movements and habitats and in general having a great time of inspired exploration. Afterwards the children frolicked in the meadow and played with muddy puddles. As we were leaving we had the treat of seeing the English Gardens mounted police trot up to us on horses. They even let the brave children give the horses a gentle pat. Another lovely Forest Day for Bubbles.
As we start our new theme of Road Safety and Transport with the children this week. We decided to head to the Deutsche Verkehrsmuseum to investigate the different cars, trains, and buses throughout history. The children were given an I Spy activity and had fun travelling through the museum and spotting the different vehicles off their lists. Of particular interest for the children was the chance to go inside the trains an explore the interactive elements of the museum. At the end of our tour we spent time in the children’s area; colouring, building and using the cool slide. All in all a great offer for the children to enjoy.
Finally the week ended with our new event of School Cone Crafting. The room was a bustle of activity as parents sat down with their children to create their school cones together. I’m sure this memory of building and bonding with their parents will stay in the children’s mind for a long time to come.
